Trustees has responsibility for the building and grounds of Trinity and the parsonage, and we are the custodians of the deeds and related documents for the parcels of land on which those buildings are located. We deal with items as diverse as sprinkler systems, furnaces, painting projects, the elevator, multiple kitchens and bathrooms, insurance issues, and all the aging concerns of a 100 year old church building and a fifty year old parsonage. Our funds are basically tracked through the capital projects and parsonage accounts, though there are un-budgeted capital funds as well. We have nine trustees, serving 3 year terms.

Note to Trinity Counters:
Often, Trinity receives monetary gifts in memory of loved ones. The funds go into a special account held by Trustees. Sometimes, the money is designated for a special purpose, such as music or camp scholarships; other times, the funds are used as the Trustees believe appropriate. There are guidelines in that case....the project should add to the beauty of the church or enhance worship, for example.
The Trustees' send a notification to the family about the gift and also a receipt to the donor that they can use for tax purposes.
HOWEVER, Trustees cannot do that if we do not have the information on the blue memorial slips that are in the counter box.....if you look at the slip, you will see there is space for the name of the person being remembered, the name and address of the donor, as well as a place for Trustees to record that the acknowledgement has been sent and the names entered in the Book of Remembrance in the Parlor. It is also helpful if the counter makes a note if the funds are to be used in a designated account. This is a simple one-stop way of handling these special donations.
Since the counters are the only ones to see the actual check, it is difficult, sometimes impossible, for Trustees to go back and trace the gift. PLEASE help us by filling out the blue slips! Just put them in the Trustee box along with our copy of the record of contributions that you do each week.

Trustees’ Meeting Minutes, May 25, 2011
Attending: Wendy Cavan, Larry Karinen, Doug French, Dave Bybee, Eric Lybeck, Linda Milam
The meeting was called to order at 6:50 PM.
Finance: There was no Memorial Funds report.
Church Maintenance and Operations: The Boy Scouts have offered to remove the step between the parking areas, as a service project. Linda asked Bill O’Steen to coordinate the work with Rob. There was brief discussion about the designated handicapped parking space closest to the walkway; for the time being, the orange cone will be left in place. Doug said that Rob has contacted Wright Roofing to give an assessment of any needed work over the sanctuary and parlor areas. The leak area in the parlor has not gotten any worse, and may be from an earlier time. Doug also reported an issue with the 8” drain line in the boiler room; Rob is patching with an epoxy and will report back on the status. A fire extinguisher inspection was held last month.
Parsonage: Larry reported that there have been no issues. Linda and Brenda still need to work on getting curtains on several lower level windows.
Insurance: No issues.
The next meeting will be on June 22; Eric and Wendy will both be out of town.
The meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
